Phil Hayes

With a background originally in residential sales in the Melbourne and Auckland marketplaces, Phil’s introduction to the Commercial sector began with his appointment as Chief Auctioneer for Bayleys in 2006 where he conducted the nationwide Total Property commercial portfolio auctions.

A Sales Management role in Christchurch led to an eventual relocation to Perth which saw Phil appointed as an Associate Director and partner at Caporn Young.

Responsible for the growth in the auction business Phil oversaw growth in auction numbers from 37 in 2013 to 189 in 2017. Under Phil’s stewardship Caporn Young’s Fremantle office was awarded no 1 Auction Office for WA in 2018 and the business overall conducted more auctions than any other company in WA. Recognised by his Auctioneering peers Phil has represented WA in the Australasian Auctioneering Championships, is a dual winner of the Harcourts NZ Auction Competition and has twice been named Australian Auctioneer of the Year by the RER Network. 

In 2017 Phil founded Caporn Young Commercial and was responsible for the sale of many iconic West Australian properties and businesses including Exmouth’s Lighthouse Caravan Park, Subiaco’s Witch’s Cauldron Restaurant and Sal Salis on the Ningaloo Reef.
